Tips
for finding a lost pet...
1.Check with area shelters (public and non-profit) at least
every other day. Visit these shelters as often as possible.
2.Check web site listings of lost/found pets. Post
lost animal as soon as possible.
3.Consider placing a lost pet ad in your local newspaper.
4.Call the veterinarians in your area to alert them to your
lost pet in case someone brings it into their clinic.
5.Check with neighbors, especially children, and ask if they
have seen a pet that looks like yours.
6.Search your neighborhood. Your pet may be close to you,
but injured and unable to get back home.
7.Leave
a towel or article of clothing with your scent on it outside
your home. Your pet
may be disoriented and will be attracted by your scent.
REMEMBER:
An ID Tag is your pet’s ticket home.
ALWAYS keep identification on your pet. |

Happy
New Year to the residents of Concord Bridge!
A lot of folks have the joy of a new pet in their homes
after Christmas. Please remember that these new puppies
and kittens need proper care and identification to ensure
a long and happy life. Vaccinations are essential to good
health. Identification tags are essential for safety.
No one
wants to believe their pet will escape the confines of their
loving home, but, believe me, it happens every day. Animals
without identification often end up in shelters and are
never recovered by their owners. In addition to the risk
of the "dog catcher", we have predatory animals
such as coyotes living in the bayou areas that surround
the neighborhood. Please know where your pet is at all times.
It is illegal to allow your pet to roam the neighborhood
unattended, and Animal Control is often present in this
area to enforce these regulations.
Also, please remember to be patient with your new pets.
Puppies and kittens are very cute when you first bring them
home, but they can also be quite destructive. Spending time
with your pets will reduce the damage and build a bond that
can last a lifetime. Before you change your mind about a
troublesome pet, check out the many obedience training services
in our area. Also, explore the option of multiple pets.
They will have each other to play with in your absence.
In conclusion, please exercise patience and good judgment
in dealing with your pets. They will return the favor with
love throughout the year.
Best wishes in the New Year!

POLICY
FOR ANIMALS PICKED UP BY HCRAC
All animals not wearing owner identification or not having
a microchip implant are held three (3) working days before
euthanization. "Three working days" is defined by
Harris County Rabies Animal Control (HCRAC) as MONDAY THRU
SATURDAY.
Also, if HCRAC is holding or is participating in a charity
event on a SUNDAY, then SUNDAY can be defined as a "working
day".
When an animal reaches HCRAC, the animal is given an identification
number. During the initial HCRAC assessment of
an animal's behavior and health status, those animals showing
a "difficult behavior/personality" or exhibiting
injury or questionable
health issues may be euthanized BEFORE three (3) working days.
The photos of these animals may not appear on the
www.countypets.com web site.
If necessary, please contact the Houston
SPCA at
713-869-SPCA (7722). |
I
looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs
of human society.
I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness
and betrayal.
And I was angry.
"God," I said, "this is terrible!
Why don't you do something?"
God was silent for a moment
and then
He spoke softly.
"I have done something,"
He replied.
"I created you.”
